Are you losing out on a saving of up to £212.00 on your tax bill?

If you are married or in a civil partnership and your husband, wife or civil partner does not earn enough to use all of their Annual Allowance (currently £10,600) you can apply to HMRC to transfer 10% of the their allowance (£1,060) to you.

How do I do it?

Even if you have an agent you must apply online yourself – your agent can’t do it for you.

You must have your own and your partner’s National Insurance numbers

You must provide HMRC with a proof of your identity:

  • the last 4 digits of the account that your child benefit, tax credits or pension is paid into
  • the last 4 digits of an account that pays you interest
  • details from your P60

What happens after I claim?

HMRC will amend your PAYE Code Numbers to reflect the transfer of allowances.

If you use an agent to complete your Tax Return you have to let them know.
