It has recently been brought to our attention that there is a new phishing Email from what appears to be HMRC stating that you could be due a refund on your Self Assessment. The flowing is an example of the new Phishing Email:

As you can see there are a number of points that raise alarm bells. The first of which is that HMRC will never notify you of a rebate via an email. The second is that the email address this was sent from, note that it does not match a normal HMRC email address (usually ending with @HMRC.co.uk). And thirdly there are font issues and pixilation of letters on the disclaimer at the bottom of the email, these would not be in a genuine HMRC email.
If you are ever unsure if an email like this is real or a scam, you can find advice from HMRC HERE, and remember if you are unsure of an email like this do not click any links on it to avoid any malware being installed on your device.
